Research mission

Make agricultural landscapes legible to people and to machines

Oil palm covers vast areas of Southeast Asia, yet the tools to understand it remain scattered across imagery archives, models and one-off scripts.

OpenPalm AI brings satellite imagery, geospatial analysis, evidence-grounded research and autonomy simulation into one inspectable platform, starting with a historical study in Malaysia.

Principles

01

Open by default

Make source attribution, provenance and validation status inspectable. Dataset rights remain source-specific; no blanket licence or accuracy is implied.

02

Honest about data

Each level of intelligence depends on suitable evidence. Real observations, predicted heights and synthetic outputs are explicitly distinguished.

03

Agentic, not opaque

Research responses expose selected evidence, citations and uncertainty. The studio is a visual workflow draft; autonomous multi-agent execution is planned.

04

Built with the community

Share reproducible methods and invite datasets, annotations and analyses. The current contribution form creates a local draft; publication and peer review are planned.

Roadmap

From satellite-first to autonomy

Phase 1

Satellite-first prototype

Real Sentinel-2 NDVI, pixel inspection, scientific exports and saved research. SAM segmentation remains planned.

Available study
Phase 2

Tree-level detection

Crown detection once suitable very-high-resolution imagery and validation labels are available.

Planned
Phase 3

Canopy intelligence

Historical Meta-predicted CHMv2 summaries are available. Ground-truth height validation remains open.

Descriptive study
Phase 4

Autonomy

Synthetic coverage-route simulation. Operational terrain, obstacles and flight-safety validation remain future work.
